FAQs

What is Simple Practice? Simple Practice is a secure, online platform used for scheduling, documenting, and conducting video sessions for mental health therapy. It is also our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

  1. What technology do I need to access therapy through Simple Practice? You will need a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone, such as a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Simple Practice is accessible through any web browser and also has an app for mobile devices.

  2. How do I set up an appointment? You can schedule an appointment by logging into your client portal in Simple Practice, or by contacting our office directly.

  3. What are your fees? Our fees vary between therapists and services. Please visit our fee page or the specific therapist’s page for fee information.

  4. How does video therapy work on Simple Practice? Once your appointment is scheduled, you'll receive a secure link for the video session. You can use this link to join the session at the scheduled time. The interface is user-friendly and designed to feel much like an in-person session.

  5. How is my privacy ensured on Simple Practice? Simple Practice is a HIPAA-compliant platform, meaning it has security measures in place to protect your private health information.

  6. Can my therapy sessions be covered by insurance? While we are not in-network with any insurance companies, we are able to provide courtesy billing for out-of-network benefits for most major insurances including Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United, and Cigna.

  7. What is courtesy billing for out-of-network benefits? Courtesy billing is a service we provide where we directly bill your insurance company for your sessions, even if we are not in their network. This service can save you time and effort. However, it's important to note that every insurance policy is different, and out-of-network benefits can vary.

  8. How can I find out if my insurance will cover out-of-network services? You can use our Benefits Checker or call our office and we will look up your benefits for you. You can also find out if your insurance will cover out-of-network services, by contacting your insurance provider directly. They can give you information about your coverage, including any deductibles, co-pays, or co-insurance for which you may be responsible. PPO insurance generally offers Out-of Network benefits, HMO does not.

  9. What happens if I encounter technical issues during my session? If possible we will switch to a phone session. If technical issues arise, contact our office immediately. We will help troubleshoot the problem or we can reschedule the session, if needed.

  10. What can I expect during my first therapy session? Your first therapy session will be a time to get to know your therapist and discuss your mental health needs and treatment goals. The therapist will also explain the therapy process and answer any questions you may have. You will also be introduced to the Simple Practice platform.

Please feel free to contact our office with any additional questions. We will be happy to answer them! (310) 803-3270
