No Surprises Act- Good Faith Estimate Notice

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, out-of-network health care providers need to provide patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

A Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises

Why aren’t you in network with insurance?

Brighter Days Teletherapy is an out-of-network provider. We can courtesy bill most major insurance companies (Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and United.) We will also provide you with a superbill at the end of the month that you can send to your insurance for reimbursement if you qualify. We have elected to not bill In Network with insurance to avoid insurance interfering in the therapy process.

You can use our Benefits Checker by Mentaya to find out what your coverage for therapy is. If you would like to check with your insurance on your own, ask them if you have out-of-network benefits for codes 90834, 90837 (individual therapy)or 90847 (family therapy and couple’s therapy).

Sometimes, it’s a better choice to see an out-of-network therapist. Here are 5 reasons:

1) you would like a therapist who has a specialization such as EMDR therapy, Family Therapy, or Couple’s Therapy.

2) you want a therapist with extra training beyond their Master’s education

3) you want effective online therapy services and personalized therapy services

4) you don’t want to use insurance to control how often you see a therapist and to protect your privacy since using your insurance means therapy and associated diagnosis becomes part of your medical records.

5) you want convenient California therapy or effective Florida therapy

You can’t be present for the people in your life if you are not taking care of yourself first.
