Feeling overwhelmed, on edge, or shutting down?
EMDR & Trauma Therapy throughout California
Maybe you're carrying trauma, coping with stress through drinking, or feeling pressure to keep it together for everyone else. If you're searching for a trauma therapist in California, EMDR therapy may help.
Specialties:
• EMDR for Trauma & PTSD
• ERP for OCD (Exposure & Response Prevention)
• EMDR for Addiction — DeTUR: Desensitization of Triggers and Urge Reprocessing
• Anxiety & Emotional Overwhelm
Work with a therapist who understands burnout, emotional shutdown, and the weight of responsibility.
Struggling with intrusive thoughts, compulsions, or addiction patterns that feel hard to break?
James is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the first-line treatment for OCD — and in DeTUR, an EMDR protocol developed specifically for addictions and compulsive behaviors. Rather than treating the underlying trauma and hoping the behavior follows, DeTUR targets the trigger-to-urge link directly.
Online therapy across California. Evening and weekend appointments available.

If you're ready to stop just coping and start actually feeling better, let’s talk.
I work with adults who want to better understand painful patterns, heal from experiences that continue to show up in their lives, and build a greater sense of balance, clarity, and emotional stability. I especially enjoy working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, addiction, relational challenges, and moments of feeling “stuck” or disconnected from themselves.
My therapeutic approach is client‑centered, trauma‑informed, and strength‑based. I draw from evidence‑based modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), psychodynamic principles, somatic regulation strategies, and cognitive/neuroscience‑informed frameworks that honor the way the brain and body hold and process experience. I believe meaningful change happens through collaboration—by understanding patterns, developing practical tools that fit your life, and gently challenging narratives that no longer serve you.
I received both my Bachelor’s degree and Master’s in Social Work from UCLA, where my commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive care was deeply shaped. Outside of the therapy room, I’m a proud parent to a 4‑year‑old who brings constant perspective, joy, and humility into my life. My wife is also a social worker, and together we share a deep respect for the resilience it takes to do this work—both professionally and personally.
I strive to create a space that is warm, non‑judgmental, and empowering. Healing isn’t linear, but it is real—and it begins with being met where you are. If you’re curious about what therapy could look like, or you’re ready to reconnect with yourself in a deeper way, I’d be honored to support you.
