Why online therapy

Real therapy, without the drive

California traffic and packed schedules make weekly therapy hard to keep up with. Online sessions take that off your plate. You log in from home, your office or your parked car, and spend the full hour on what matters.

Research shows that therapy by video can work as well as in-person therapy for many people (American Psychological Association). Many clients also find it easier to open up from a space where they already feel safe.

  • No commute. Fit a 53-minute session into a lunch break or after the kids are in bed.
  • Flexible hours. Daytime, evening and weekend appointments are available.
  • Private. No waiting room, and sessions run on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform.
  • Consistent. Moving, traveling within California or home sick? You can keep your appointment.

We're in-network with Aetna and First Health, and we bill most other PPO plans for you as an out-of-network provider, so there are no superbills to hassle with.

Common questions

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

For many people, yes. Studies have found video therapy works about as well as in-person therapy for concerns like anxiety, depression and PTSD. What matters most is the fit between you and your therapist.

Do I need to live in California?

You need to be physically located in California at the time of each session, because that's where our therapists are licensed. Christina is also licensed in Florida and South Carolina.

What do I need for a session?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, a steady internet connection, and a private spot where you can talk freely. Headphones help. We'll send you a secure link before each session.

How do I pay for sessions?

We keep a card on file through our secure client portal. If you have Aetna or First Health, you pay your usual copay or coinsurance. For most other PPO plans, we bill your insurance for you. See our fees and insurance page for details.

When are appointments available?

Christina sees clients in the evenings. James offers daytime, evening and weekend appointments. Call us or book a free consultation to see current openings.

Is online therapy right for a crisis?

No. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 or go to the nearest emergency room. Online therapy is a good fit for ongoing support, not emergencies.
